City’s Parow Park Public Housing maintenance site visit

The City’s teams visited the Parow Park public housing for maintenance and upgrades. The City’s investment into public housing maintenance and upgrades is taking place at Community Residential Units (CRU) across the city. 

The Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim joined the teams in Parow where the maintenance work was being carried out.

'The City is investing a massive R1,2 billion in the maintenance and upgrades of City public housing. We are doing maintenance and repairs on a daily basis and this year we launched the public housing upgrades and investment campaign, which places a large focus on priority work and general maintenance.

'Public housing plays a critical role in providing affordable and safe accommodation for residents. To ensure the wellbeing of our tenants, we are committed to prioritising all required maintenance and emergency repairs. We are in areas on a daily basis doing regular inspections, timely repairs as well as ongoing improvements and upgrades. This is essential so that we preserve our public housing assets and create a sustainable, safe and healthy environment for families.

'Tenants can reach out to the City for their maintenance needs and emergencies. Tenants are also urged to stand with us in our fight against public housing vandalism and anonymous tip-offs are welcomed. If you see something, say something and report it to 021 480 7700,' said Councillor Pophaim.
